Title:
Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst Mid-Air Collision Avoidance (MACA) Safety Tour
Topic:
Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst Mid-Air Collision Avoidance (MACA) Safety Tour
Date and Time:
Saturday, April 20, 2024, starting at 08:00 Eastern Daylight Time Download Calendar File
Speaker(s):
Captain Kyle Harris, 305th Air Mobility Wing, Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst
Brief Description:

 In order to promote safe flying in the McGuire Alert Area (A-220), the 305th Air Mobility Wing Safety Team sponsors this program, which will: 1) inform general aviation pilots about the hazards of flying in busy military airspace; and 2) provide strategies for flying safely in the McGuire airspace. The program includes presentations on the types of military aircraft a GA pilot might encounter in the Alert Area, important information on flight physiology, a tour of the McGuire Radar Approach Control (RAPCON) facility, and a tour of the McGuire control tower. As an added benefit, the event provides participating pilots a static tour of aircraft on the flight line, including the new KC-46 and the C-17. Making the event special is the ability to fly to and land at McGuire Field, a unique opportunity for pilots.

Please do not register online if you will be unable to make it. Contact the tour coordinator if you have to cancel after being registered. Only 37 aircraft and 76 attendees will be allowed. Do not register more than one person. Once all spots are filled, I will make a wait list.

Due to heightened security, all attendees must pre-register for this event on this site.

The event is open to U.S. citizens with U.S. driver's license and their dependents at least 13 years of age. Pilots must have at least 100 hours as PIC. Participants must pass security screening and pilots must provide USAF liability release forms. Only pilots who complete the security requirements are permitted to participate.

Due to security screening requirements, the suggested deadline for registrations is March 18, 2024. Registrations received after this date will be processed in a workload permitting basis. Registered participants will receive security documentation requirements from the civilian tour coordinator.

The fly-in is held only in VFR weather conditions (5 miles visibility and 3,000 ft ceiling). If the VFR minimums are not met, the event will be held as a drive-in.

Participating pilots will be assigned arrival slots. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO LAND IF YOU HAVE NOT BEEN APPROVED BY THE TOUR COORDINATOR. Registration on FAASafety.gov does not count as an approval to land.

Please do not register online if you will be unable to make it. Contact the tour coordinator if you have to cancel after being registered.
