Brief Description:

Lasting 10 to 15 minutes and followed by group discussion of the concepts presented, this presentation acquaints the audience with the hazards of inaccurate aircraft performance expectations and best practices associated with predicting aircraft performance including topics such as:

  • faulty performance expectations
  • human and some technology-centered performance calculation solutions
  • weight and balance limitations
  • the 50/70 rule of thumb
  • creating a personal safety margin
  • briefing each and every takeoff, approach, and landing

This event will be followed by a 30-40 minute presentation regarding best taxi practices, avoiding runway incursions, and a review of runway signs and markings. Wings participants are urged to register for both events separately.

Also, DPE and FAASTeam Representative Brett Zukowski will be available after the meeting 10 AM to 10:30 AM to answer general questions regarding preparing for your next Private, Instrument, or Commercial ASEL practical exam (check ride). CFI's and students welcome and urged to attend.

In total, the two part event will run from 0830 to 1000 with DPE availability from 10-10:30 AM.
